Welcome to Waitress Wiki

Waitress Wiki is an unofficial fan wiki dedicated to Waitress the Musical. Based on the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress has a book by Jessie Nelson, score by Grammy Award-winner singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, choreography by Lorin Latarro and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus.

The show premiered at the American Repertory Theatre in 2015, opening on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in 2016, and closing in 2020, with a full First National Tour travelling across the USA and Canada throughout 2017-2019. A non-Equity tour of the show finished travelling across North America in June 2022.

Waitress also had a Broadway restaging at the Barrymore Theatre from September to December 2021, becoming the first Broadway production to open after the COVID-19 closures. A third tour, with limited residencies in cities across the US, starts in spring 2022.

The show’s first replica production closed in London’s West End at the Adelphi Theatre in March 2020, with a full UK and Ireland Tour concluding in August 2022, having been delayed due to COVID-19.

The first non-replica international production took place in 2018 in Manila in the Philippines, with new direction and set design, with a second – a Spanish translation entitled ‘Camarera: El Musical’ – opening in Buenos Aires, Argentina in April 2019. Further non-replica productions opened in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Warsaw, Poland in Spring 2021, with Lahti, Finland following in September. Further productions in Tel Aviv, Israel and in Sweden will take place in 2023.

A replica of the Broadway production was due to tour the Netherlands in October 2020; however, this has been postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19. It was also due to open in Sydney, Australia in 2020; this has also been delayed. The third international replica production became a Japanese production, opening up in Tokyo, Japan in March 2021, and touring Japan after.

A professional recording of the Broadway restaging will be released in 2023, following its live airing at Tribeca. A replica production of the show in French will premiere in June 2023 in Montreal, Canada.
